I've heard of "rapid detox," a procedure where a person is literally put into a medically induced coma to quickly "extract" opioids from the body. Does it really work? And most importantly, is it a safe procedure?

I've seen people talk about it too: they say you can quickly get rid of a withdrawal without pain. But something tells me that it sounds too good to be true - and it's clearly not without risks. Who has researched this in depth?

Rapid detox is a real procedure in which a patient is given opioid receptor antagonists like naltrexone or naloxone while under general anesthesia to quickly induce withdrawal. Learn more here: https://unitedrecoveryproject.com/rehab ... pid-detox/ . While this can rid the body of the substance quickly, the risks, such as heart problems, psychological trauma, and even death, outweigh the potential benefits. Most experts do not recommend this method due to the lack of proper aftercare support and the high risks.
