Bruno Faidutti als Autor des Spiels äußerte sich zur Terraforming-Strategie im November auf BGG wie folgt (siehe http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/455761/how-do-you-beat-terraformers):
Since I'm here in Lucca, I've been asked to demo Ad Astra five or six times. The only game I didn't win was also the one in which, starting with a water planet, I played a terraform strategy from the first round. So far, I've beaten terraformes with a metal spaceships.systems strategy (my favorite), with a resource monopoly strategy, and with a piggyback "a litte bit of everything, alien cards and factories on alien planets" strategy. I know Serge likes to play terraformers, so I hope he will start on a water or food planet and I will start on a metal planet next time we play, so we will see who is the most efficient with his preferred strategy.
If you play terraformers early, you will easily be in the lead by 20 points or so after three or four rounds. Then, your opponents' production engines become really efficient and he catches up with all other types of scoring. This means that if you play a terraforming strategy from the bginning, you have to be very efficient and go very fast, and most times it's not enough.
On the other hand, if few players terraform in the first turns, terraforming two planets in the same turn and scoring just after this when all players already have 30 points or so can be a very efficient tactics.
