Auf BGG findet sich diese englische Übersetzung:
"I will clarify my side of the story. After the final ended it was quickly criticized on the forum of Days of > Wonder with photographs of the results of the 2nd match. You can pretty much recalculate all Ticket to Ride points. On the board you can see exactly how many turns a player has used to claim routes. Since no one took extra destination tickets, all other turns were used to grab cards. In general, you take two cards, except for a single a Locomotive.
One and a half week later DoW contacted me. I was told via email that I was disqualified, since I had played more cards than possible. The attached tournament rules clearly stated that, if an error has been made, played wrong or cheated, DoW has the right to take back the prize [and title].
The final was filmed, and it shows that during the 2nd match I (accidentally) grabbed cards from the table that were not mine. Although no one has noticed this then, for DoW it is sufficient reason not to give the prize. I examined the situation with a lawyer, but they gave me little chance since the tournament rules are pretty clear. Predefined They simply reserve the right to take back the trophy.
As you can hopefully understand this was for me, many friends, family and acquaintances the talk of the day in this last period. Since it is on camera that I grabbed the wrong cards and the organization really wanted the trophy back, I agreed to return it. I didn't want the trophy to remind me of this anymore. The final took place after 8 games of TTR, and I was pretty tired. We also played a best out of three. I had won the first round before the incident took place. During the 2nd match, even if I had lost, I could probably win the 3rd."
