Dear Gregor,
I can understand that you were disappointed that Alchimech was not available at the Essen Fair, but something terrible happened to the game.
EL&M Productions had some difficulties with the print of the game in the weeks before Spiel '04. After printers 1 and 2 failed to produce the game, printer 3 was able to print the game and the print was finished just in time to get it ready for the Essen Fair.
Unfortunately, after the gameboxes had been assembled, they were sent to Essen with a transporter, who did not carry out his task very well. At the moment we are not sure whether the games ever arrived in Essen. Fact is, that the authors arrived at their stand on Thursday, 21th October, and none of the games had arrived. They went home desperately, after cancelling their stand, their hotel and everything else.
The Alchimech boxes were returned to sender on Monday, 25th October, and we heard from the author that all the boxes were damaged. As a matter of fact, there appeared to be complete holes in the boxes and many of the games were destroyed. This is hard to imagine, since the cardboard boxes which were bought for the transport of Alcimech were made of special, extra layered, cardboard. Inquiry has to be made on the things that happened during the transport.
In the meantime the author has some new Alchmechs available, which will be presented at the Spellenspektakel Fair in Eindhoven, The Netherlands on 29th-31st October.
Kind regards,
