Here is a description of the game from Face2Face Games:
The Game of Monsters, Myth, & Mayhem.
For centuries, the kingdoms of earth have been at peace, dominated by the rule of men. But now, powerful Wizards, Dwarves, Elves, Trolls, and Goblins are ready to challenge man's reign. Even the Undead are rising up. Chaos is about to erupt as creatures battle each other and even amongst themselves for control. You must lead your armies (infantry, archers, cavalry, and more) into the fray or be crushed by the assault. It is the age of WARRIORS.
First Impression by Rick Thornquist (after one playing of a prototype):
This is a simple card game where players amass armies of Trolls, Elves, Barbarians, etc, and pit their armies against each other. The game play for 2 to 4 players but is best with 3 or 4.
The story is that the game was originally designed as a card game version of Risk, even though it has evolved somewhat since then. Players get cards representing armies from different races which are placed face up in front of them. The army cards can be infantry, archers or cavalry.
There are three rounds in the game. At the beginning of each round, players get more cards and add them to their armies. They may also get attack cards, which allow them to take one of their armies and attack another player. Combat is resolved in a Risk-like manner - each player rolls a number of dice, one of each infantry. If you have an archer in your army you add one to your highest dice. The attacker and defender compare the highest dice and then next highest dice, etc. Whoever has the highest kills one of the defender's army and puts it in his dead pile.
You can keep attacking until one of the armies is decimated or the attacker decideds to retreat. If the attacker defeats the defender, and he had a cavlary unity in his army, he can do another attack.
At the end of the game you get points for the armies you killed. Also, the player who is left with the largest army of each race gets a number of points. Whoever has the most points wins.
This is a very light dice game with just a dash of strategy. If you are looking for a light, fun, battle game that can be played in half an hour, Warriors fills the bill.
