Hi,
GM = GameMaster, neutraler Spielleiter
press ??
---> Konfusiion???
Gunboat Diplomacy
This is exactly like regular Diplomacy, except that the identity of the players is known only to the GM. Thus there is no negotiation. For this reason, a Gunboat game can offer a break from the letter-in-letter-out grind of correspondence and can also give a chance to sharpen your tactical ability without confusing you with a lot of lies from the other players. Generally, Gunboat games still carry press so it is often possible to figure out who's in the game if you're familiar with the press-styles of various people. But if you keep your mouth shut, who's to know? This is probably the most common type of variant offered. Press usually takes the form of a unit supporting another Power's unit to say Switzerland to cpnvey that they want be friends or neutral, or say to another Powers capital to mean I'd like you to attack that Power, and such.
No Press Diplomacy
Same as Gunboat in that there are no negotiations, however a GM is not required as the players known who is playing which Power.
