StreetSoccer goal sequences

Beitragvon Cwali » 11. April 2005, 23:27

I collected statistics about goal sequences in StreetSoccer.

After the StreetSoccer release I red comments in this forum and later at other places about the goal sequences. Some argued that you can get many goals in a row. Self I had the impression that you often score after a goal by the other player.

I've already seen that the game results with the different internet-versions are 3-2 and 2-1 most often.
I now counted how many goals were made by the same player as the previous goal and how many by the other player. I only did that with all the games in the highest division of the competition at littlegolem.net, only the 4th and 5th season. (By the way: After I won the first 4 competitions, the 5th is won by Sepp (USA). The level becomes stronger each season, 395 players were in the leagues of the 5th competition and I'm not even in the rating top-10 now.)

The results of the sample:
Total scored goals after first goals: 1153
Goals for the player who scored the previous goal too: 483:
42%
Goals for the player who did not score the previous goal: 670:
58%

So in these competitions the player who sees his goalie defeated, has an 'advantage' to score the next goal. (In soccer the opposite is true.) The sample is made from what probably is the highest level competition at the moment, so doesn't have to be representative for beginners for example.

(Besides littlegolem.net you can play StreetSoccer on computer on brettspielwelt.de (but you need to download the BSW-client, I think) and now too on jijbent.nl (where the biggest StreetSoccer tournament will start next month (is not free) ).)

Statistical greetings,
Corné

Do you think that it is significant, that the rules as implemented on littlegolem differ from those in my box and those on BSW? (Explanation: On littlegolem a player does not put his own goali back in front of his goal when he scores)

Thanks,
Olav

can't be that important since in our last encounter on BSW, you answered 3 of my 4 goals with the immediate going level with rolling a 6 :-)

Bye

That is a significant difference in the rules. But I think it is in most cases an advantage to hold your goalie on it's space when you scored a goal, so I would think that the gap between the percentages should be bigger on BSW.

Your box must be the first version of StreetSoccer, because the new printrun (since september-2004) has the rule that only the defeated goalie goes to his goal. That was meant to be on BSW too, but that didn't reach the person who programmed it for online. The new rule makes the game more tactical.
(Before the release of the boardgame we often did that you can choose if you place your goalie in the goal. I wanted a shorter rule in the rulebook, so going "always" or "never" to the goal. Now I regret I chose "always" in the first version. :( (But other last choices in making the first printrun I'm now happy with. :) ) )

So, to be clear, the 'official' rule is that only the defeated goalie goes to his goal after a scored goal, like on littlegolem.net and jijbent.nl.
