..... I can't hold secrets .....
The proto-type of the zoo manager game (it will get another name, but if I
write that here the game will not be new anymore when the final version is
ready in september/oktober :-) ) you can see on Ronald Hoekstra's site at:
http://www.spelmagazijn.nl/nl/foto/pic0284.jpg (early phase in the game)
On that photo you see:
------ zoo-entrance-buildings:
Every player starts with his zoo-entrance-building and paths around the entrance.
------ zoo-tiles:
Everyone builds at his own zoo. That are the tiles with:
different types of animals (the colours on the tiles), trees and paths.
------ visitors:
By building at your zoo you attract visitors IN your zoo. That are the black
'blocks' on the old photo, some two high. (Last week I got 'real visitors' as sample.)
------flagstaff in centre of the table:
Order of zoo-logo-flags is tie-breaker in case of equal investment bid.
So you don't see 'real' animals and visitors yet on this old photo of a prototype.
Those will be in the final version.
All tests with this game were with different rules, but the princip is the same:
---- You invest to build parts of your zoo (the tiles with animals, trees and paths).
---- When you build, all parts of your zoo have to be reachable through the paths
on the tiles.
---- You attract visitors when:
-- you build relatively good area's for a type of animals.
(For the see-animals, the birds, the reptiles, the apes or the other mammals.
To count up your values in a type of animals those animals have to be close to
each other in your zoo.)
-- your zoo is relatively green (many trees).
-- your visitors can walk rounds through your zoo.
(Only 1 visitor per round path, but you hold these visitors the whole game!)
---- After every season (at the start of every season you turn 5 tiles face up) you
get new income depending on your number of visitors (income) and your number
of tiles (costs) in your zoo.
(The rules get a variant-rule in which everyone gets income and the
"visitors-minus-tiles" are points after every season. For new players to learn
the game without getting bankrupt.)
---- At the end your number of visitors plus your number of coins is your endscore.
See photo:
The left upper player did build already 2 round paths by 3 tiles.
The right upper player has no round paths yet, but a good position in types
of animals and trees.
Now the players bid for the 10th tile (5 x 5 open tiles during the game), which
is a strong tile for animal types, trees and paths (this tile will be different in
the final version). It fits very good for the player at the left under side, for making
a round path and connecting purple to purple. (That was me, I got that tile and I
won.)
You will find this game in the Cwali-booth at Spiel in Essen in oktober. I don't
know the booth-number yet. And Titicaca and StreetSoccer are there too.
No Morisi anymore, but there are plans for a new version later .....
Groeten,
Corné
